surprisingly solid with no rot to speak of, just
good old-fashioned patina form its 85 years
on planet Earth. It’s been chopped 5.5” and
channeled over the custom-built frame. The
interior is fairly mild, save for the aftermarket
gauges, narrowed ’56 Chevy dashboard, and
       Hurst Pro-Matic 2 shifter.
‘Nestor’ is powered by a Chevy 350 with a
four-bolt main and a mild cam. Yo is unsure of
the specs, but notes that it has a lovely sound as
the spent gasses pass through the Flowmaster
mufflers. Topping off the engine is an Offy intake
with a trio of two-barrel carbs. Behind the 350 is
a Turbo 350 trans with a 2800 stall converter and
full manual valve body. Out back is a Chevy 10
       bolt with 3.55 gears.
Every vehicle under the KOS’THOR roof has a
name, including their many bikes. Among them
are his brother’s bike, ‘La Chispa’ or ‘the spark’.
The battery caught fire the first time they started
it. Then there’s his girlfriend Laeti’s bike, ‘2.O.P’,
short for ‘Only Oil Pressure’. No horn, speedo, or
signals – only the oil pressure to hold the motor
together! Yo’s personal bike is named ‘732’,
after a monumental victory that year by French
       commander Charles Martel.
Rat rods may have started as an American
phenomenon, but in the grand scheme of things,
it’s all part of a universal language.
