This car reeks of Southern California history.
It was originally built for “The Big Schwag” of
Monster Garage fame. The frame rails were
once street lights from Hollywood, and the
massive Diamond Rio engine saw over 300K
miles of service on the streets of LA before
fi nding its way into Henry’s rat.

Travis Schmidt’s 31 Model A is just downright sexy. Everything looks PHOTOGRAPHY: CHAD TRUSS
“right” on this thing, including the stock 50’s HEMI. It may not look
like it because of the cohesiveness of the design, but this thing has
components from a 71 Duster, a 32 Ford, a 70 Challenger, a 37 Chevy
pickup, a 50’s Ford F150, a 64 Buick Riviera, a 94 Jeep, and the
aforementioned 54 Dodge that the engine came out of. To source
parts from that many donor vehicles and put it all together into one
beautiful package is a testament to Travis’ vision.
