Many lining up to be the Crab Killer.
As the event progressed, so did the tire ripping
sessions. This place was hell on tires. With the sultry
Louisiana temperature rising above the 100 degree
mark and the drives that had long since mastered
their rats, these tires stood no chance of surviving.
Even the newcomers needed some help by Crab’s
team. They shared their experience with a girl doing
her fi rst burn-out in her new rat truck.
I spent some time with one of NOLA Motorsports
Park managers as he came out to see the action.
His day job of dealing with supercars did not afford
him the opportunity to understand what would take
place. There were a few times that the smoke was
so thick in the sky, I thought they would have had to
close the track if anyone was on it.
