thing? Tom Deeter was there as usual. Steve Darnell
                                                                 from ‘Vegas Rat Rods’ hung out all day, as did artist and
                                                                 VRR co-star, Travis Deeter. To top it off, there were spe-
                                                                 cial appearances by Pee Wee Herman and Captain Jack
                                                                 Sparrow. All the while there was a soundtrack of great
                                                                 music by Sandbox Bullies, Durango 66, and Tail Gun.
                                                                   And how about the vehicles? Besides the rats,
                                                                 there were gassers, ratty gassers, ‘70’s street freaks,
                                                                 lowriders, Kustoms, muscle cars, diesels, trucks, bugs,
                                                                 survivors, motorcycles, the aforementioned bicycles,
                                                                 and probably others that we’re forgetting right now.
                                                                 Walking down the rows was like a who’s who of the
                                                                 rat rod world. Many builders of former RRM cover cars
                                                                 were in attendance: Gary Fisher, Chris Walker, Mike
                                                                 Snodgrass, Jac Lindell, Patrick Watson, Henry Kessler,
                                                                 Gary Thams, and Steve Darnell.
                                                                   Congratulations are in order for Codye Easterling,
                                                                 who was crowned Miss Rukkus 2017 as well as Jerome
                                                                 Harlan, the Rat Rod Magazine pick for best rat rod.
                                                                 Look for a feature on Jerome’s 1941 Dodge pickup in
                                                                 a future issue. And of course, hats off to Justin Taylor,
                                                                 who took home Best in Show for his spectacular
                                                                 ‘38 Ford pickup. Look for features on Codye as well
                                                                 as Justin’s truck and the amazing story behind it
                                                                 elsewhere in this issue.
