XJS with limited slip and 2.88 gears for highway
cruising. Gaz coilovers specifi c to the Jag setup
help this rig maintain a smooth ride and handle
unbelievably well. Those huge rear wheels are no
off-the-rack item. They are custom-made, 52-spoke
15x14 jobs courtesy of Rally America.
Powering this beast is a 472-inch Cadillac of
1969 vintage, so it’s pre-smog and full of oomph.
It’s amazing what a simple Edelbrock manifold and
carb swap will do to wake these motors up. Backing
it up is the ubiquitous Turbo 400. Homemade
zoomies expel the burnt fuels.
This vehicle was built to drive and drive it they
do, to the tune of 20,000 miles in three years.
It’s quite comfortable, with the highlight of the
interior being the seats that are upholstered with
brindle bull hide. They’ve driven it from their
home in Kearney, Nebraska to Branson, Missouri
and back. They would have driven it to Las Vegas,
except negotiating through the Rockies was going
to be a bit tricky. “If it’s over 40 degrees, we’re
out driving it”!
That’s what we like to hear.
