As for the bed, Billy “wanted it to look like
something Henry Ford would have built”. He called
upon the services of Fat Charlie’s to design and
build what you see here. The original fenders were
stretched 11 inches and early ‘60’s Ford Galaxie
taillights were added to keep it a bit retro. Since he
wanted the bed to match the patina of the cab’s
original paint, Billy used a combination of rollers,
brushes, and trash bags when it was painted. The
metal was aged with a combination of peroxide
and salt and the aging process only took about
three days. The bed also houses a toolbox full of
Billy’s catering supplies, as he loves to cook. He’s
provided food at some notable places such as
Austin Speed Shop and Orange County Choppers.
A Navy veteran who served in Desert Storm,
Billy has incorporated tributes to his service
throughout the vehicle such as the American
Flag headliner and an anchor incorporated into
the pinstriping on the tailgate, courtesy of Magic
Customs. He’s also a member of the Houston,
Texas chapter of the Demons CC.
oing to big car shows gives us the
opportunity to see vehicles from all over
the place, which is good for us, because it
means we don’t have to travel as much. At
Gthis year’s RatCity Rukkus we found plenty
of badass cars that made the drive to Las Vegas,
two of which you see here – Jarrod Bluel’s 1931
Willys and Billy Dawson’s 1955 Ford COE.
Jarrod’s Willys is eye-catching on many levels.
