                   Partnership working with Loughborough University

Sisk have been a key partner with Loughborough University in recent years.

Most recently, university BEng Civil Engineers used Sisk’s Holiday Inn project in

Birmingham for their group design project module.

he aim is to design a complex project from Bruch Wright, Senior Tutor at the School of Civil and
scratch. Students start with a client brief, then Building Engineering, Loughborough University ‘Can
Tfollow through the design options to a final I thank you and all your colleagues for help with site
preferred detailed design. This includes structural visits last year. We really do appreciate industry input
calculations, costs, health and safety considerations, into the courses.’
                   and constructability issues.
Sisk worked with the university to define the brief
and act as the client through the year. Once the
design neared completion students visited the site The Holiday Inn
to compare their solutions to the real project. It gets project under way
them thinking about offsite manufacture, working on in Birmingham.
a constrained site, how issues are managed, amongst
                   many other things.
This is not the first project students have visited,
before this they were put to the test at the Costa
                   Coffee factory at Tutbury.
This programme is not just benefitting the students.
We have since recruited high quality Loughborough
graduates onto our Excelerate programme, like Pooja
Godiania, as well as raise the profile of the work we do
across the UK and further afield.
