There are two types of people in the world, aren’t there? There are life giving people and life draining people. Life giving people add value. They leave you a little bit better than you were when they found you. They tend to see the world from your perspective with you.
We don’t seduce people by telling them how great we are; we seduce them by telling them how great they are.
You may have heard the story of the lady who went to dinner with Mr. Gladstone one evening and Mr. Disraeli the next, both prominent English Statesman.
She said, “After dinner with Mr. Gladstone I thought he was the smartest person in England; but after dinner with Mr. Disraeli I thought I was!”
What a difference between the two! Life giving people make you feel better about yourself, but they also make you feel better about the world and everyone in it. They seem to lift everything and leave you with hope. You always feel better leaving the company of a life giving person.
Life draining people, on the other hand, tend to talk about themselves and they see the world from their perspective. You always feel worse when leaving the company of life draining people!
Most of us are not aware of our real motivations. A wealthy person can work hard, make money and declare that she is doing it for the family. But the family never sees her, and when they do she seems angry and they feel like they can’t live up to her high expectations. They feel like a disappointment to her. Is
