THE FORGIVENESS FACTOR
To forgive is to set a prisoner free, only to discover that the prisoner was you.
~ Louis B. Smedes
You will know that forgiveness has begun when you recall those who hurt you and feel the power to wish them well. Just now, when you read the sentences about forgiveness, someone came to your mind, right? You may have even physically cringed when you thought of them. Oh, go ahead and admit it. It’s okay. If you can’t be honest with yourself while reading this, when can you be?
This person, the one who came to your mind just now, is your personal mental poster child for un-forgiveness. He or she is that one individual who makes it difficult to consider the concept of wiping the slate clean. I mean, sure, you might be able to forgive a lot of people...maybe even most people, but not this particular person.
What’s the Big Deal?
