Page 78 - Life is a Fight for Territory
P. 78

A giver is never at the mercy of circumstances that are happening in the physical world. Sure, it may be true that the stock market crashes or the real estate market collapses, but when you’re operating according to spiritual laws, your outcome will always be positive.
Let me ask you a question to further explore this. What is the natural reaction of the world when times appear to get tough? People generally go on high-alert, right? If finances are getting low, it must be time to stop spending, stop giving, stop the bleeding, right? But that’s thinking on a very base, natural level. The minute we start looking more like a reservoir than a river, we’re no longer thinking according to spiritual laws. It’s not time to stop the flow when crisis (or rumors of crisis) hit. Now, it may be time to tap into new, creative ideas and come into alignment with new opportunities in our life, but it’s never the time to stop being a giver.
Givers have an edge over the world that allows us to be prosperous, successful and productive. While the world hoards out of fear (which absolutely doesn’t work), givers realize that giving puts us in the flow of provision, which is right where we want to be!
To be a giver (and a tither) is an act of trust and the recognition that you realize you are not the source of your wealth. Although a lot of people proclaim to be “self made” success stories, this is both ignorant and arrogant. If I have to rely on myself for every idea, decision and opportunity, wow. That’s too much pressure for anyone and I definitely don’t want that!
