468 weakness cannot persist in a power-evolving universe.
469 A man should conceive of a legitimate purpose in his heart,
470 and set out to accomplish it. He should make this purpose
471 the centralizing point of his thoughts. It may take the form
472 of a spiritual ideal, or it may be a worldly object, according to
473 his nature at the time being; but whichever it is, he should
474 steadily focus his thought forces upon the object which he has
475 set before him. He should make this purpose his supreme
476 duty, and should devote himself to its attainment, not
477 allowing his thoughts to wander away into ephemeral fancies,
478 longings, and imaginings. This is the royal road to self-
479 control and true concentration of thought. Even if he fails
480 again and again to accomplish his purpose (as he necessarily
481 must until weakness is overcome), the strength of character
482 gained will be the measure of his true success, and this will
483 form a new starting point for future power and triumph.
