Many people just do not like selling. They feel pushy and uncomfortable and generally speaking, it is something that they would rather avoid than embrace. And that would be ok, if sales was not such a fundamental part of the success of any business. Over the years, we have worked with thousands and thousands of people from all around the world and we have found that the biggest problem for many entrepreneurs is sales. If they could just sell more, most of the problems they experience in their businesses would disappear.
Selling is the highest value activity of any company in any industry, yet despite this, most people do not understand sales. They would rather work on their website or logo than systematically develop their sales skills but the truth is, without sales their business is not a business at all, it is a creative hobby! And worse still, if you are not selling anything you are not helping anybody either.
No, sales is certainly not popular with many people. But public speaking ranks even lower! And if you put the two together, standing up and speaking in front of a group of people and then asking them to buy something? This is something that most people do not even like thinking about, let alone doing.
Despite its lack of popularity, live speaking is a great way however to build your business. It is one of the very best marketing tools there is.
It is one of the fastest ways to build a relationship with someone you do not know and to position yourself in their mind as an expert. It is one of the very best ways to leave them with the impression that you are the sort of person they want to do business with so that they feel comfortable investing in your products and services.
