Thursday 11:00-12:00 Session: S24 PreK - 2nd Level Richland A Room
EdVenture’s Readiness Alignment Project
EdVenture is in its third year working with the 4K teachers and assistants in Colleton
County. This session will share activities and strategies used as part of a multi-year
professional learning experience that included school visits to EdVenture,
demonstration lessons in the teachers' classrooms targeting the state’s early learning
standards and student engagement, and family nights. This IMLS-funded project
served as a study to demonstrate the impact of a professional development model
of the future. The session will bring attention to the data that placed the attention
on student engagement, teacher questioning, and the attention placed on
mathematics and science.

Thursday 11:00-12:00 Session: S25 3rd - 8th Level Richland B Room
Fostering a Student-Led Mathematics Block
This session will address the moves you can make to have a more student-centered
mathematics block where the students are driving the direction of the lesson from
start to finish. Through thinking routines, tasks, and activities throughout the math
block, the teacher can remove him or herself from being the sage on the stage to
the guide on the side.
