The Promethean Escape Room Experience challenges attendees with a series of

puzzles and riddles that must be solved in order to escape. The goal? Escaping the

room before time runs out. The escape room experience helps students build

essential collaboration and critical thinking skills. Attendees can expect to work as a

Thursday 11:00-12:00 Session: S20 PreK - 12th Level Senate Room

Changes for a Positive Learning Environment

Imagine a classroom where students respond to the teacher's request the first time...a classroom
where the non-compliant student learns to self-correct inappropriate behaviors. A classroom that

gives off so many positive vibes that every student will want to be in YOUR class. Wouldn't it be
great if teachers could spend more time on mathematics instruction and less time on calling students
down for misbehaving or lack of engagement? The strategies presented involve building a positive

relationship with students, use of self-control, use of verbal and non-verbal prompts, organizing your
classroom so that YOU are the focus, and empowering students to take responsibility for their
learning. This can be done! Let's spend more time on teaching and less time on dealing with

               misbehavior.
