and the mathematics education community in
          In 2009, after 11 years of kidney problems, Bill South Carolina.
          was given the miracle gift of life by his dear friend,
          Marian Scullion, in the way of a living kidney
          donation. This unselfish gesture gave him 11
          more years to enjoy life and loved ones, a sacrifice
          for which he and his family were (and are)
          eternally grateful.

          Bill was known for being soft-spoken with a kind
          heart and enjoyed in-depth conversations about
          “any topic”. He loved the full moos, Edisto Island,
          seashells, sunflowers, and family reunions.

          Bill is survived by his wife Anne; children Jim,
          Stan, Kerry, and their spouses; late son Ben’s
          family; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren;
          and numerous loving nieces, nephews, and their
          families.
