                                     Session 252 will be held in the Ballroom from 2:00 - 3:30
                 Figh�ng Fixed Mindsets: Instruc�onal Shi�s for Mathema�cs



               The instruc�onal choices we make impact how students feel about their ability to
               learn mathema�cs. Examine school and classroom structures that might inhibit
               growth mindsets and discuss five instruc�onal shi�s to address those structures
               for young learners. Par�cipants will explore the following five culture shi�s:


                   1.  Set the stage for students to come up with strategies.
                   2.  Keep control of the learning target by providing strategies “as if” they came
                       from the students.

                   3.  Support students to create contexts as a path to create meaning.
                   4.  Expect students to do the sense making, even in pulled small groups.
                   5.  Set the stage for students to talk to students.
