Introduction

As real estate professionals, we get asked all the time: “What’s

going to happen with the market?” While we don’t have a magic
crystal ball to tell us exactly what’s going to happen, we are
able to look at trends and attempt to predict what direction
the market is headed. Trends, however, do not account for
unexpected factors or world affairs that impact our market both
directly and indirectly, so as we try to prophesy from what we’re
given, take it with a grain of salt.

In the following pages, you’ll see the condensed 2018 Housing
Market Forecast as presented by the California Association
of REALTORS® in October 2017. It was presented by C.A.R.

Chief Economist and Vice President, Leslie Appleton-Young, and

explores many facets of the housing market at statewide and
regional levels. We invite you to examine the forecast and we
hope it informs your real estate decisions in the coming year.
