Frank B. - Council Chair called the 867th meeting to order at 7:30 pm. Twelve Traditions read by Gib. Council Definition and Purpose read by Jo Ann. Welcome to 2 new Coordinators and 1 Visitor. Congratulations to those celebrating birthdays. (5) Roll Call: Heidi Assistant Council Chair reported 41 groups were represented out of 75 registered Coordinators. There was a quorum (33). October 2017 minutes were approved. 7th Tradition: $61.23
Area 8 Representative: Monty, Alternate Chair reported Our new Panel 68 Officers have been shadowing the current officers for a proper pass down demonstrating some of the duties at the last ACM and Area Assembly.
Area committee met on October 19th. DCM and Subcommittees gave reports. Discussed several motions during the meeting which were to be presented at the Area Assembly. The Alternate Delegate (who will be the Delegate next year) gave dates for the Pre- Conference Workshops. The districts are asked to help host the workshop.
Area Assembly was on Saturday, Nov 4. 2018 Budget was discussed. Treasurer started with several amendments to the budget. Several other minor changes were voted on and approved. 2018 Budget for $52,000 was approved, allowing for more 12 step work and more officers to get partial funding for PRAASA. Reviewing Webmaster resumes. Also, adding a document and a content person. For more info, go to our website area8aa.org.
H & I Representative: H&I – Takes AA meetings and AA literature into places where people can’t get out to go to meetings – jails, prisons, hospitals, etc. We hold orientation on the 3rd Sunday of each month at noon in the Machinists’ Hall 5150 Kearny Mesa Rd, and the 3rd Thursday of the month 7:00 PM at San Diego AA Central Office. Our subcommittee, Contact on Release, matches people being released from these facilities with AA volunteers who take them to meetings in their local area. It meets the 3rd Tuesday at 6:45 PM at Central Office. We are excited about the 2018 SoCal H&I Conference which will be held April 6 – 8 at the Four Points Sheraton in Ventura. Our Saturday night Keynote Speaker will be the Secretary of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. <socalhandi.org> Our local website is <sdhandi.org>.
AFTER HOURS PHONES: Mary Ann reported all nights are currently filled. Updating our “Emergency Volunteer List”. Also, need a new section leader on committee.
BUSINESS COMMITTEE: Jim M., Chair reported Committee met on Tuesday, 11/7/17 at 6:10 pm. Present: Jim M., Lauren B., Precious P., Heidi H., John M., Vincent G Frank B. and Connie L.
There was a quorum.
It was m/s/c to approve October 2017 Minutes.
October 2017 Financial Statements were m/s/c. October 2017 Financial Summary:
October Net Revenue is 2,001. Our 2017 YTD Net Revenue is 7,219. Group and Individual Contributions were 13,028. Literature Sales Revenue and CD Bank Interest were 971 while total office and committee expenses were 11,998.
