Completion of the Bachelor of Theatre will prepare you to pursue employment opportunities in fields and roles such as an: Actor, Musical Theatre Performer, Performer, Director, Designer,
Theatre Technician or Theatre Manager.
The degree also provides excellent pathways for careers in education, creative industries and arts administration.

•Bachelor of Creative Arts
(Contemporary Dance)
Study the Bachelor of Creative Arts (Contemporary Dance) over three years full time or six years part time on campus
in Townsville.
You will create, choreograph, market and produce contemporary dance performances in an artistic and safe environment. Thrive in a regional arts community, learning from expert instructors where you will also implement theatre technology and stagecraft as well as collaborate with other artists to lead and create an artistic product. Gain knowledge of the creative industries and arts business in Australia and overseas as well as learn to contextualise the process and place of contemporary indigenous arts within the international and
cultural industries.
• Bachelor of Theatre (Music Theatre) Study the Bachelor of Theatre (Music Theatre) over three years full time or six years part time on campus at Mackay, home of the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music. You will benefit from CQUniversity’s focus on performance- based training and will be a part of a main stage music theatre production each term. With a strong practical focus, you will receive intensive technical training in singing, acting and dancing which will equip you as a professionally acknowledged ‘triple threat’ performer.
Main subjects: As a part of the Bachelor of Creative Arts (Contemporary Dance) you will study the business of the arts and the creative industries, as well as explore Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Arts in Australia. The Contemporary Dance major will provide dance instruction in ballet and contemporary dance with a focus on solo and ensemble performance while developing knowledge in the fundamental craft of contemporary dance and choreography.
As a part of the Bachelor of Theatre (Music Theatre) each term students will study: production principal performance studios (voice, acting and dance) and theatre studies. In the first year, you will also take two units in music theory and piano skills.
Practical dance classes per week: Students will undertake classes in ballet, contemporary dance and conditioning as a part of the Bachelor of Creative Arts (Contemporary Dance).
Students have weekly classes in ballet, tap and jazz as part of the Music Theatre specialisation in the Bachelor of Theatre. Audition date: In-person auditions are scheduled in November at specific locations for Term 1 intake and can
be requested by appointment. Online auditions are accepted anytime throughout the year for both mid-year
and Term 1 intakes.

• relevant certificate, licenses or diplomas
Now you can gain nationally recognised dance accreditation in the ACT! Dance Development Centre (DDC) has been developing dancers for over 30 years. With studios located in both Sydney and Canberra, we’ve seen generations of dance students pass through our doors. We have a supportive and nurturing atmosphere.
DDC’s Pre-Professional courses are immersive, providing hands on experience and excellent performance opportunities, preparing you for a career in dance. Our Aspire courses are for students wishing to work towards a career in dance prior to taking on full time dance studies. These courses are currently running in our Canberra studios and beginning in our Sydney studios in 2020 (register online now).
