   DEFENCE SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY GROUP (DSTG)
DSTG is the Australian government’s lead agency responsible for applying science and technology to safeguard Australia and its national interests. Headed by the Chief Defence Scientist, DSTG has an annual budget of approximately $408 million and employs approximately
2300 staff, predominantly scientists, engineers, IT specialists and technicians. DSTG has a presence in nearly every state and territory in Australia. DSTG’s national headquarters is in Canberra, and it has research facilities in Melbourne, Edinburgh (in the northern suburbs of Adelaide), Canberra, Brisbane, Sydney, HMAS Stirling at Rockingham (near Perth), Scottsdale in Tasmania, and Innisfail in northern Queensland. DSTG works closely with industry, universities and the scientifi community.
