                 MACHINERY MATTERS
Processing and packaging industry on the move – APPEX 2024
“The transition to APPEX is not just a rebranding. It is a response to industry feedback requesting APPMA, the leading industry national association, to provide an expo that represents all sectors of the processing and packaging industry.”
Welcome to our fourth edition of Machinery Matters for 2022, brought to you by APPMA in an exclusive partnership with PKN Packaging News and Food & Drink Business.
With a very successful AUSPACK, Leaders’ Forum, Awards and Gala Dinner now behind us, we can all look forward to the ‘road ahead’, including a number of exciting developments I would like to share with our readers.
APPEX 2024
The announcement of the transition of AUSPACK into APPEX, an “All of Industry Exhibition”, has been extremely well received by all sectors of the processing and packaging industry, with the number of Expressions of Interest (EOI) received to date exceeding forecasts and targets. We are excited to see the EOIs including many new exhibiting companies for all sectors, such as processing and packaging machinery, ancillary equipment, robotics, materials, packaging, food processing and industry services.
While the overwhelming preference of the APPMA Board was for APPEX to alternate between Sydney and Melbourne, a detailed assessment of potential locations including Olympic Park, ICC and MCEC concluded that, at this stage, the MCEC is the only venue equipped to handle an exhibition of this size, including access to conference and gala event facilities.
APPMA, however, remains committed to engaging, servicing, and supporting all members and the industry. With APPEX moving to a three-year cycle after 2024, the opportunity and priority is to develop and implement both directly – and in partnership with other industry associations – a range of events, exhibitions, activities and educational programs to be run on a national basis. With member networking events already scheduled in Queensland, South Australia, and New South Wales between now and Christmas, we look forward to making further announcements in the near future.
As previously communicated, the transition to APPEX is not just a rebranding. It is a response to industry feedback requesting APPMA, the leading industry national association, to provide an expo that represents all sectors of the processing and packaging industry. APPEX 2024 is that exhibition, delivering a comprehensive range of all processing and packaging equipment and services under one roof, run by the industry, for the industry. For those companies who have not yet submitted an EOI, I encourage you to do so today.
