HAVER & BOECKER LAUNCHES LATEST INNOVATIONS
Haver & Boecker, along with its technology subsidiaries Feige Filling, Aventus and Haver Automation, will be showcasing a line-up of new machines at German processing trade show Achema in August.
Included in the showcase will be Adams technology, with which powder products are filled into preformed bags made from a continuous tubular film.
During filling, air is extracted from the bag with the aid of a vibrating lance and a compactor, and next, the packaging itself is hermetically sealed. The result is a completely sealed and very compact bag.
At Achema, Haver & Boecker will be presenting new technical solutions for the Adams technology,

which can be used to fill an extended range of products, especially for the pharmaceutical industry.
Aventus specialises in packing free-flowing bulk materials, such as chemical and petrochemical products, salt or fertiliser.
Its new Topas FS form fill seal machine, with an hourly output of over 2600 bags, offers several advantages on the international market, which makes the packing of free-flowing bulk materials, particularly economical and efficient.
The machine features a high protection against dust contamination, and thus contributes to a cleaner working environment. The integrated operating system requires very little maintenance and is designed for production at maximum output.
KHS SEES STRONG DEMAND FOR PAPER-BASED SYSTEMS Beverage filling and packaging machinery specialist KHS Pacific had a strong showing at AUSPACK, with a high interest in its new paper-based open-top and closed-top systems for cans.
KHS Pacific MD Jens Kautzky reported strong interest in the company's filling equipment, and discussed a recent sale of the KHS Innofill Can C 48/8 volumetric can filler, along with a CIP system, to co-packer Garage Beverages. The hygienic filling line has been developed by KHS in collaboration with Ferrum seamers.
The talking point on the stand, though, was the new can topper system enabling the application of can holders made of cardboard, developed under the KHS Group Innopack Kisters brand, which adds to the turnkey beverage packaging supplier's portfolio of sustainable secondary packaging solutions.
GM Sales Houman Tarash pointed out that both the open-top and closed-top cardboard holders can be applied to classic, slim and sleek can formats.
The system supplied by KHS is modular and flexible, which means that operators can switch to different cardboard materials or alter the pack size, among other options.
To meet the global demand for Covid-19 rapid tests, Brisbane-based Ellume, with the help of Bosch Australia Manufacturing Solutions (BAMS), has relied on automated production lines with 16 KR Agilus from Kuka installed since 2010, and now is expanding its production capacity with 144 more robots.
Bosch’s Australian division is expanding large-scale production for Covid-19 rapid tests at Ellume, following the already successful collaboration in 2020, and has the goal of implementing 27 state-of-the-art automated assembly lines to increase production capacity.
The 144 Kuka robots ordered for this purpose are from the KR Argilus series and are designed for maximum operating speeds – crucial for the Ellume project, which has a capacity of nine parts per second.
Three lines for the Brisbane plant have already
been successfully installed and full production has begun.
With a volume in the low single-digit million- euro range, this is the largest Kuka project for an Australian company to date.
“We have spent the last decade perfecting our technology, and in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, the role of rapid, accurate diagnostics has never been more important,” said Dr Sean Parsons, CEO and founder of Ellume.
“Ellume is pleased to partner with Bosch to bring their world-leading automation expertise to our manufacturing process. This will allow Ellume to manufacture best-in-class diagnostics that can be relied on in the healthcare industry.”
In addition, another completely new plant with 24 production lines is being built in the US. The first delivery of US lines is currently being installed, with the last lines to follow by mid-2022.
