     CATALOGUE OF HOT AIR
EXAIR’S latest Catalogue 33 has
arrived, providing a full colour technical guide with solutions to common industrial conveying, cooling,
cleaning, blowoff, drying, coating and static electricity problems. The greatly expanded catalogue introduces new VariBlast Precision Safety Air Guns, the Intellistat Static Eliminators, Liquid Atomising Spray Nozzles, and the EasySwitch Wet-Dry vacuum. A best practices section for using compressed air products has also been added.
VariBlast Precision Safety Air Guns allow you to use only the flow you want with trigger control. They are lightweight, ergonomic, comfortable and have three extension lengths available. The Intellistat Ion Air Gun Static Eliminator is built for laboratories, scientific testing, clean processes and sensitive assembly work.
This catalogue also introduces Liquid Atomising Spray Nozzles in a full or hollow cone spray pattern that are used to cool, wash, rinse and suppress dust. These liquid spray nozzles are made of 303 stainless steel to provide durability and corrosion resistance that works with many liquids. The EasySwitch Wet-Dry industrial vacuum changes from liquid mode to dry mode in less than 10 seconds with no tools, springs or hardware.
Exair products are available from Compressed Air Australia.
FIND YOUR BEARINGS
HEAVY dirt accumulation, dust and swarf are commonplace for pillow blocks and fixed flange bearings which makes constant lubrication and maintenance necessary. Cost-effective injection-moulded igus spherical balls provide a lubrication- and maintenance-free solution for metallic pillow blocks.
The motion plastics specialist has developed its igubal exchangeable spherical balls especially for pillow blocks and fixed flange bearings with metallic housings. These consist of the high-performance polymer iglidur J, which reduces costs since lubrication and maintenance are eliminated. The use of polymers prevents dirt and dust from settling in the bearing, which additionally reduces the sealing and prevents an unplanned machine downtime.
Within a few seconds, the igubal spherical balls can be mounted in place of ball bearings in existing classic metallic pillow blocks and flange bearing housings and now also in low-cost sheet metal housings.
The balls are available in three dimensions for low-cost sheet metal housings (Ø 20mm, 25mm and 30 mm) as well as for cast housings (UC204-210).
The complete solution is available from Treotham Automation.
BRUSHING UP YOUR PROTECTION
INDUSTRY 4.0 and factory automation processes which aim to deliver quick and accurate transfer of information can be affected by electromagnetic interference, which inhibits data transmission. Global cable company LAPP says data and control signals should be locked in a Faraday cage to create electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) compliant data transmission cables. By forming a continuous covering or mesh of conductive material, a Faraday cage blocks electromagnetic fields from entering its shielded area .
LAPP’s Skintop Brush series of cable glands offer optimum EMC protection. Designed specifically as an ideal Faraday cage environment to protect cables from electromagnetic interference, the range comes in three EMC protection forms.
The Skintop MS-M Brush provides consistent EMC protection even after dismantling and re-installation due to the shielding braid not being damaged by the brass brush.
The Skintop Brush Add-On is the world’s first patented active EMC locknut, cutting into the enclosure and offering an optimal, low impendance 360 degrees shield contact, acting as an EMC extension.
The Skintop Brush Add-On 24 features a visible, large-area shield contact and an optimal, low resistance 360 degrees shield contact which has a simple dismantling process and is a suitable EMC protection supplement to cable bushing systems.

FLEXICON are taking safety to the next level, eliminating the need for ladders, scissor lifts and forklift cages with its new line of anti-slip access platforms to reach elevated process equipment safely.
With 1220 square millimetre deck sections, and stairways that can elevate up to 2.4 metres, the modular system includes braced frames which can be bolted to the floor. The Access Platform Line maximises personnel security with upper grab rails and mid-height rails bolted to stairway stringers and deck perimeters, auto-closing hinged safety gates, and anti-slip grating on treads and decks.
The line is modular, so frames can be stacked to attain high elevations. Decks can
also be joined in 1220 square millimetre increments to create elevated walkways and extended mezzanine areas in shapes conforming to equipment configurations and plant layouts.
Control panels can be mounted to the brace frame allowing for equipment to be operated from various elevations.
Flexicon also manufactures flexible screw conveyors, pneumatic conveying systems, tubular cable conveyors, bulk bag dischargers, bulk bag conditioners, bulk bag fillers, manual dumping stations, drum/box/ container tippers, weigh batching systems, and automated plant-wide systems integrated with new or existing process equipment.
