 PUMP UP THE TUBES
WATSON-MARLOW Fluid Technology Group (WMFTG) has expanded its range of pump solutions for the food and beverage sector. The group has launched Maxthane pump tubing elements while receiving FDA confirmation and EC1935/2004 certification on Qdos pumps.
Maxthane is designed to deliver accurate and reliable dosing of flavours, colours and additives with reliability and compliance to FDA and EU food grade standards.
Compatible with all types of food oils and most clean-in-place (CIP) chemicals, Maxthane is manufactured from fully recyclable thermoplastic polyurethane, which reduces its environmental impacts and supports sustainability initiatives of food plants.
WMFTG product manager Chris Palmer says the food and beverage sector’s pumping demands include regulatory compliance, chemical compatibility, high performance, and easy maintenance.
“The advanced materials technology invested in Maxthane means food plants can add sustainability to the list of benefits they receive. In addition, confirmation of key certifications on Qdos means we are able to bring the process performance benefits of Qdos to a much wider audience.”
The tubing has high peristaltic performance due to its thinner wall and is designed for use with the Watson-Marlow 530 Series cased peristaltic pumps fitted with a 520 RET pumphead, delivering high- accuracy and simple maintenance.
Easy changeover is provided through quick-change LoadSure which is available in three sizes, allowing for the operator to easily replace the element in the pumphead during maintenance routines.
Qdos pumps – which are deployed in metering applications in a range of industrial applications all over the world – now carry the certification required for use in food and beverage processing applications.
FILLED, SEALED,
AND DELIVERED
GLOBAL food processing and packaging solutions specialist tna Solutions’ latest vertical form fill and seal (VFFS) packaging system, Robag 3e, features a CXE
integrated display
controller, smart
diagnostic tools and
intuitive time-saving
components. Up to 250
bags per minute can be
delivered through the system with a wastage level at 0.1 per cent at its lowest point, and enhanced serviceability.
The tna Robag 3e VFFS features EtherCAT real-time protocol and an integrated display controller system with 20 per cent less cabling infrastructure which enables easier operation, servicing, maintenance, and installation costs. Utilising common core components of the Roflo distribution conveyers and the Intelli-flav seasoning system, the Robag 3e has a reduced requirement of additional spare parts stocking. The VFFS system also contains integrated LED lighting in the packaging jaw area for safer and easier maintenance. It provides real-time communication and status updates through its smart diagnostics and remote connectivity for faster global servicing support.
The Robag 3e delivers a sustainable packaging operation through maximum efficiency and enhanced energy savings across its lifespan. It also contains an integrated film cutting and dispensing component, along with new stainless steel reinforced doors and tunnel guards.
QUALITY HANDLING
HB-TECHNIK provides a unique high-tech range of ingredient handling systems and solutions customised for the food processing industry. With superior accuracy, these state of the art technologies produce a consistent product of better quality. The product range of (micro) ingredient handling systems covers manual ingredient storage, weighing tables, bag dumping stations, big bag stations, standardised ingredient dispensers and fully automated ingredient dispensers.
Silos for the storage of bulk goods are available in many different design variants – indoor and outdoor options are available also outdoor options can include thermal insulation.
Our extensive Asia Pacific network is connected with technicians and logistic providers with the highest level of expertise and world-class installations while our service allows clients to produce high volumes of commercial food and beverage products with greater accuracy.
HIGH FIDELITY
HYPERSPECTRAL imaging – or imaging spectroscopy – is the result of spectroscopy and digital imaging combined.
Hyperspectral cameras acquire light intensity for tens to several hundreds of connecting spectral bands, meaning every pixel in an image has a continuous spectrum in radiance or
reflectance. It allows objects in the picture to have great precision and detail.
HySpex’s Baldur line
of hyperspectral
cameras are designed
for industrial environments
where high image quality
and spectral fidelity are
needed. The cameras work
in the 400 to 2500 nm
spectral range. They can easily integrate into real-time classification, identification, and quantification of a wide variety of materials as they operate.
Baldur hyperspectral cameras are available through Raymax Applications.
HANDLING THE HEAT
TO continuously handle the high levels of heat and friction in bearing points in the food and packaging industries, Treotham has introduced its new igus iglidur AX500 as a durable plain bearing solution with ESD properties.
Plain bearings made of the iglidur AX500 polymer ensure maintenance free and durable bearing points, along with the electrostatically dissipative material allowing safety of employees from electric shocks and stick-free bags. The solution can be used in ovens and bottle cleaning as it has been designed to withstand high temperatures and is safe from strong cleaning agents through its chemical resistance. No additional lubrication is required as the iglidur AX500 comes with embedded lubricants and is harmless if it comes in contact with food.
