GRADING SYSTEM:
The Acrobatic Arts program is designed to motivate
students and help them excel in acrobatics with defined and achievable goals. Dancers work through 12 exam levels, each designed to create a well balanced acrobat.
MARKING
AND ASSESSMENT: Examiners evaluate dancers
against a set universal standard. Students are graded on 28 skills per
exam on a scale of Distinction, Excellent, Highly Commended, Commended, Pass or Retry. All exam participants receive a report card complementing areas of excellence and suggesting areas for improvement. Successful participants receive a certificate and any student with a grade of “Distinction”, receive an Acrobatic Arts medal.
TEACHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Established dance teachers can be certified in three Modules which include; spotting techniques, basic anatomy, Acro dance transitions,
partnering skills, drills to enhance training and lesson planning. Module one covers Primary – Level 6; which includes the beginner fundamentals of acrobatics such as somersaults
to the higher level skills such as back walkovers.
Module two covers Level 7 to our Pre-Professional Level 3; which includes more advanced skills like front and
side aerials and back handsprings. Module Three is a concentrated certification only focusing on the six advanced skills for our Pre-Professional students working in tumbling or contortion. Each certification module covers skills in all five fundamentals
of acrobatics.
Teachers are required to be certified to submit students to the Acrobatic Arts examination process.
OTHER ACTIVITIES:
Acrobatic Arts host workshops on a global scale on a wide variety of topics, including high level skills, flexibility and injury prevention. Teachers certified with the Acrobatic Arts Syllabus are privy to exclusive events held in collaboration with Cirque Du Soleil, where teachers learn the inner workings of the artistic process and athletic demands on the cast and directors.
In addition, student workshops with world renown instruction are also offered by Acrobatic Arts in cities around the world.

History:
Acrobatic Arts was founded in Canada in 2012 and has grown into an internationally recognized syllabus. The program is based on safe and effective progressions with proven results in five categories of AcroDance: Flexibility, Strength, Balancing, Limbering and Tumbling. The comprehensive, technique focused syllabus was developed alongside professionals and experts in ballet, modern dance, jazz, contortion, artistic and rhythmic gymnastics, sport acrobatics, yoga, pilates, physiotherapy, hand balancing and more.
