AUSTRALIAN DANCE INSTITUTE (ADI)
History:
AUSTRALIAN DANCE iNSTITUTE (ADi) – A REGISTERED TRAINING ORGANISATION RTO 91600 is dedicated to the provision of nationally recognised vocational qualifications in dance and dance teaching, responding to the need to provide better support for the private dance sector. With 20 years experience and focus on the needs of students, parents, teachers and assessors, ADi’s “contextualized” dance courses reduces “eduspeak” to help the working teacher and parent. ADi provides Recognition of Prior Learning and dance society mapping expertise as full service training of teachers and their students – totally dedicates to dance.

STYLES COVERED:
Styles are as examined by ADi recognised dance societies. ADi uses the national CUA Creative Arts and Culture Training Package framework. No grading exists
in this system.
GRADING SYSTEM:
RECOGNITION SYSTEM
Nationally recognise qualifications are awarded to students having evidence of passing dance society examinations in
selected styles: Classical, Jazz, Tap
and Contemporary.
NATIONAL QUALIFICATION
• CUA10113 Certificate I in Dance
• CUA20113 Certificate II in Dance
• CUA30113 Certificate III in Dance
• CUA40113 Certificate IV in Dance
RPL – Recognition of Prior Learning. The ADi “open learning” policy recognises technical/executant certificates from ADi recognised dance societies that are mapped to technical VET competencies. [Current 2019 “mappings”] include ADV, CSTD, ADA, MDEC, RAD BBO. Others based on demand.
MARKING AND ASSESSMENT:
Complies with the Australian VET Quality Framework – AQF.
TEACHER QUALIFICATIONS:
• CUA30313 Certificate III in Assistant Dance Teacher*
• CUA40313 Certificate IV in Dance. Teaching and Management*
*Both these qualifications are planned to incorporate new “Working with Children” concepts which better equip teachers to recognise and deal with inappropriate costuming, choreography etc, while dealing with child welfare and care under instruction, such as bullying, molestation etc

We work closely with both private and public (performing arts) schools.
CAREER PATHWAYS
All ADi courses from year 8 students to mature teachers are aimed at providing a complementary “safety net”, also appreciated by parents looking to broaden career opportunities for their student in the arts industry, beyond pure dance performance/technique.
Older (15+) individuals can enrol independently in assistant and higher dance teaching qualifications leading to enhanced career options, including entry recognition into TAFE courses such as event management, arts administration, choreography. INDUSTRY SERVICES
Include: syllabus endorsement, certification of teachers, schools and assessors, VET qualification recognition by state Education Departments, plus professional development opportunities including workshops, information sessions and courses available for dance teaching professionals in main capital and
regional centres.
GOVERNMENT SUBSIDIES
ADi was awarded [2014/2016] funding via ADV and CSTD as Lead Society Organisations, for the National Workforce Development programme [NWDF] for approx 50 teachers to study ADi’s Certificate IVin Dance Teaching and Management. At time of publishing, funding for Arts training has become limited limited. Nevertheless selected funding remain for qualifying courses via State subsidies and VET stud.
