                • vapour diffusion resistance;
• higher resistance to common
chemicals, fungi, microbes,
rot, and decay;
• odour neutral;
• physiologically harmless; and
• certified food safe.
The floor is non-slip barley grain pattern, which is fully welded to prevent moisture ingress. “It also gives the box more strength as the walls are welded to the floor,” Cox says.
“It also has recessed load securing hardware. The benefit of this system is that it provides greater internal space and prevents damage occurring to products and packaging,” Cox says.
Schmitz Cargobull’s stacking system called Dost is also part of JBS’ solution.
“Optioned with the Dost vertical double loader system, the double stacking of pallets has never been so easy. The Dost system is extremely user friendly, easy to operate and minimises workplace health and safety issues associated with less advanced system that require time consuming manual handling.”
The vans are equipped with Carrier Fridge units which feature the latest E Solution Telematics.
“JBS have full monitoring visibility and history of the load
via computer and mobile phone at all times. The telematics provide live internal van temperature, current outside ambient temperature and fridge unit performance en route.
“Parameters are set, any variations are triggered and sent to the relevant personnel should it be required. This allows total management of food product whilst in transit from factory to receiver,” Cox says.
Another feature is the full-length hinge protection. “This rubber protection system offers a grab handle as well as impact resistance, while the full gasket style seal is one of the key features for the box’s thermal efficiency,” he adds.
Schmitz Cargobull’s proven running gear – suspension, brakes, axles – are German manufactured BPW and covered by a million-kilometre warranty, all of which ensures longevity as well as peace of mind in the harsh Australian conditions.
Additional safety features include the trailers being fitted with side under run intrusion bars, fire extinguisher and – of course – electronic braking system (EBS). The EBS detects what’s occurring with each wheel set.
“It prevents brake locking by predicting and preventing
hazardous situations such as roll over, by automatically applying the brakes to particular wheels. Data can be extracted from the system to monitor driver performance such as harsh braking, peddle riding and other issues,” Cox explains.
The chassis of these trailers are constructed of Strenx 700. Strenx 700 is a high strength lower weight steel to ensure minimum tare weight and maximum payload.
“The trailers are finished with the right amount of polished stainless steel, so they look as good as they perform,” says Cox. ✷
Trusty telematics ensure product integrity in transit.
