                Revolution in Print
         Digital drive
The digital printing developers are working in overdrive to bring a new generation of printers to market that they say will revolutionise the opportunities for print business owners. Print21 takes a look at the leading players and their latest offerings.
HP says that with wide substrate compatibility, One Shot printing on special media, and seven ink stations, applications span general commercial print and high-end photo printing to folding cartons, secure printing, and gaming.
Konica Minolta
AccurioJet KM-1e
Konica Minolta has a new version of its AccurioJet KM-1 UV inkjet, the KM- 1e, which is aimed at the commercial and high-end B2 digital market.
Throughput is the same level as it predecessor, with 3000sph simplex, equivalent to 200 A4ppm, and 1500sph duplex top speed. However, the 1e version has a broader media range, increased uptime and
reduced service requirements, and several productivity enhancements, including the ability to link with every workflow on the market.
It is aimed targeted squarely at general commercial printers looking to offer litho quality, but who need a short run fast turnaround printer. The company says it is a bridge between offset and digital, offering offset quality with the benefits of digital, including variable data printing.
The AccurioJet KM-1e has 1200dpi image quality and LED UV drying, but comes with new inkjet heads, and a finely tuned UV inkset.
Fujifilm Jet Press 750 HSM
Fujifilm will be launching a new high speed version of its Jet Press B2 inkjet press, the 750 HSM (high speed model) this year.
The company says the new press has the fastest output speed of any B2 sheetfed inkjet device, with a top speed of 5400sph in high performance mode.
Fujifilm says the new HSM is really two presses in one; it has
new dual mode ink that performs with the Rapid Coagulation Primer for ultra-high quality, but there's
no need for primer when you run
in higher speed with the high performance option. This also means two commercial benefits, no primer and savings on ink usage.
Fujifilm says the new Jet Press 750 HSM will produce longer print runs that would have been litho printed in the past, but it will keep the ability to print what Fujifilm describes as high margin, high quality short run work as well.
HP Indigo 15K
Aimed at the premium print market the new B2 HP Indigo 15K Digital Press brings high-definition printing and FM screens, and versatility
Above
enabled by a wider range of substrates, now offering additional options with up to 600 microns
(24 pt). It has new inks include ElectroInks Premium White and Invisible Yellow. New high definition FM stochastic screens support increased sharpness for halftone text.
The HP Indigo 15K is an update
of the fourth generation 12000. The high volume fifth generation 100K, which runs at 6000sph in three- colour enhanced productivity mode was announced at the same time. Existing HP Indigo 12000 presses are upgradeable to new features of the HP Indigo 15K through a new Value Pack that is available now.
