                2022 PREVIEW
                           Innovation abounds
AUSPACK exhibitors are pulling out all the stops to demonstrate the latest technology for the food and beverage processing and packaging sector. Here’s a snapshot of what to expect on the show floor.

Foodmach says Mengibar is the best-kept secret in filling technology, and the company is bringing it to Australia, and AUSPACK.
Mengibar specialises in filling and capping for explosive environments and works with the biggest brands in FMCG to help them meet ATEX regulations.
Mengibar’s expertise lies in the area of difficult-to- fill products such as highly viscose, high-foaming, swirl-fill, hot, explosive, corrosive, abrasive or volatile liquids from low to high pH, using its world-leading patented technology.
According to Foodmach, you can save between 8-10 tonnes of product loss per year with Mengibar’s scientifically accurate filling algorithms and dispensing technology.
Capping stations for screw-on caps and dosing pumps feature torque control using hybrid magnetic clutches developed by Mengibar from a combination of ‘synchronous’ and ‘magnetic hysteresis’ principles in one single clutch. They’re

more accurate and make for improved quality control. Fast recipe-driven changeovers and even faster cleaning will increase your line efficiency by up to 20
per cent, the company says.
The MassFlow Filler-Capper offers production rates
of up to 30,000 bottles per hour and it is integrated for full Industry 4.0 connectivity.
SMC GETS ITS SMARTS ON AT AUSPACK

HRS RETURNS TO AUSPACK WITH PROCESS LINE SOLUTIONS
‘Smart Steps to Flexible Manufacturing with NextGen Automation’ is the theme of SMC Corporation Australia New Zealand’s exhibit at AUSPACK.
“Right now, every new product and product modification developed by SMC is designed with size (and compactness), smart technologies and efficiency in mind. These factors bode well for next-gen automation,” said Craig Sheppard, sales and marketing director at SMC.
As the demand for IIoT solutions and robotics continues to surge, SMC has developed an array of advanced components that can be easily integrated on the factory floor.
“Whether it’s a new system or an existing one, SMC can meet the demand for various robotic applications,” added Sheppard.
“This ranges from end effectors for collaborative robots (cobots) that include magnetic, electric, vacuum and pneumatic grippers, right through to wireless fieldbus systems (EX600-W) to ensure an easier and safer installation.”
SMC will have several items on show at AUSPACK, including its Energy Saving Van, cobots from a variety of prominent brands, its LEY series of electric cylinders, the new JSY5000-H valve manifold purpose- designed for use in food and beverage manufacturing plants and breweries, and its range of vacuum solutions. It will also contribute its expertise in the form of seminars from Bill Blyth, head of SMC’s energy saving conservation group, and Jozef Ceh, digital transformation and Industry 4.0 manager for SMC.
After several uncertain years, SMC says its team is excited to showcase its latest technologies and to meet in-person with visitors to the show.

HRS Process Solutions says it is delighted to be returning to AUSPACK where it will showcase how different HRS systems can be combined to provide complete, bespoke packaging and processing solutions.
With more than 40 years’ experience in a wide range of sectors, including food, drink, pharmaceutical, environmental, and industrial, HRS has developed a range of proven processing systems including heat exchangers, aseptic fillers, pumps, pasteurisers and sterilisers, ice
crushers and re-melters, trial systems, cleaning
systems and
process
skids.
STAND F022
One example is in fruit juice production, where HRS offer solutions to de-pack, crush, and re-melt frozen juice concentrate (I Series), novel heat exchanger solutions to pasteurise the product, as well as the necessary pumps and aseptic filling equipment to complete the production process. Another area where demand is growing rapidly is the ‘plant milk’ sector, and the HRS DSI Steriliser, which uses direct steam injection to rapidly heat the product, is ideal for such applications.
HRS is known for its corrugated and scraped surface heat exchangers, which provide energy efficient heat transfer in a small footprint and are suitable for a wide range of food and drink products, waste streams and environmental materials including challenging products such as cream, complex sauces, meat slurry, wastewater and digestate.
For many situations integrated
systems, such as the range of
Asepticblock pasteuriser/fillers, will provide a convenient, effective, and cost-efficient solution in a self-contained plug-and-play format. For other more complex products and processes, different HRS equipment can be combined to provide complete processing and packaging lines.
