standardised milk crates, supply chain and manufacturing assets.
Adding a smart packaging dimen- sion, each bottle has a unique bottle identifier using a laser etched QR code protected within a recessed base. Inte- grated QR code functionality allows consumers to scan the code to be directed to the ‘swappabottle’ website. It tracks the bottle’s journey and dis- plays live information on the specific bottle – where it was filled, best before date, how many times the bottle has been reused and, most importantly, how many single-use plastic bottles it has offset.
ELEGANT CRAFT
In the Health, Beauty & Wellness Packaging Design category, a high commendation was awarded to Wool- worths Group for its Macro Laundry Powder packaging; a bronze award went to Zipform Packaging for its Swisse Earth pack; and a silver was scooped by Ego Pharmaceuticals for its etchðos skin care packaging.
Walking off with the gold was Pro- duction Packaging Innovations, for DSmile Box, the packaging for Austra- lia’s first subscription based, at-home professional daily dental health kit. Intelligently designed and beautifully crafted, Dsmile’s three-step formula offers a new approach to everyday dental care.
The packaging has been designed as three layers of sturdy corrugated board inserts, with thoughtful interior
folds (Corrugami) used to ensure no movement within the kit and the products arrive intact.
The middle layer of
the insert with product-
shaped cavities keeps
the products in place,
presenting them at one
level, and maintaining
a neat and tidy appearance
to the eye as the customer opens the package. The middle insert keeps the products completely still in the pack during transportation, and the third insert is a layer pad with a cavity that accommodates the tray. The top and middle inserts have the D shape holes at the bottom which direct the user to lift each layer.
The visual simplicity, premium look, and natural feeling of kraft (unbleached corrugated E-flute board) matched with black imprint provides a recycla-
ble, sustainable, simple yet elegant design.

Packsize was awarded a bronze for Packsize Australia and Kaboodle, while Earthwise Group received sil- ver recognition for the Earthwise Eco Laundry Scoop Innovation.
Triumphing with the gold award, and its second win, was Production Packaging Innovations for the Fig & Bloom Floral Shipper Box designed to house luxury bouquets. The bespoke, monochromatic shipper box is 100 per cent FSC-certified, made from B-flute corrugated board with white top Kraft liner, which is fully recy-
clable and made from a renewable resource and composed of 60 per cent recycled material. The design provides a moisture-resistant solu- tion, allows adequate air to flow. Structurally, the design includes an additional internal fold-over flap and an insert that is easily locked. This insert creates a separate space for the flower stems and the wrap-
ping of the bouquet.
