FORFAR INDOOR SPORTS - SENIOR ICE TECHNICIAN
Forfar Indoor Sports (www.fis.scot) is located in the county of Angus in Scotland.
Primarily an agricultural area with close links to Farming, Oil related industries,
tourism and many other commercial interests.
After seven seasons as the Curling Manager at Forfar Indoor Sports, Graham Smith is
moving on to the next chapter of his life and we thank Graham for all his hard work,
dedication and commitment over the years.
As a result Forfar Indoor Sports is seeking applications from qualified and experienced
individuals for the position of Senior Ice Technician.
Forfar Indoor Sports is a very busy sporting facility catering for a 7 sheet curling arena
(split 4 & 3), a six rink bowls arena and recreational ice skating. The facility is open 7
days a week from October through to the end of March.
With more than 1,100 curling members spread over more than 40 individual curling
clubs our ice team is kept very busy looking after local, regional, national and
occasional international competitions.
The Senior Ice Technician is supported by a staff of experienced Ice Assistants with
knowledge of the clubs requirements. The Senior Ice Technicians working schedule
can be arranged with the Managing Director once the successful candidate is hired.
The working schedule will reflect any normal ice rink with additional hours required for
large competitions and special events.
The Senior Ice Technicians position is a full time job with the bulk of the work occurring
during the curling season, with minor duties in the off season. The position offers a
career pathway to Curling Manager and beyond for the right person who can
demonstrate competence, commitment and vision.
Forfar Indoor Sports (FIS) has invested heavily into the facility with the majority of the
curling equipment relatively new including a new Boss Ice Machine, New LED efficient
lighting and a reasonably new regularly serviced plant. The Directors of FIS are
committed to continued capital investment to ensure we can offer our members and
visitors a pleasurable experience at all times.
Through combined efforts we have built a reputation for excellent curling ice
conditions and a nice friendly curling atmosphere which want to ensure is maintained
and ideally enhanced.
