Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) holds major equity
Nstake in the Company with 61.65% shares, followed by Oil India
Limited at 26 % and the Government of Assam at 12.35%.
The Refinery started commercial production in October 2000 with a
refining capacity of 3 MMTPA. NRL has established itself as a major player
in the oil and gas industry of India contributing significantly towards the
Government exchequer in the form of taxes and dividends.
The Company has several big projects lined up with over $ 4 billion
investment planned in the next four to five years.
It has embarked on a major expansion plan to treble its capacity from 3
MMTPA to 9 MMTPA, making use of indigenously sourced as well as
imported Crude Oil. This mega project includes laying of Crude Oil and
Product pipelines.

The upcoming Bio Refinery in Numaligarh is being set up as a joint venture
in NRL Marketing with Finnish companies; utilising green technology to produce bio ethanol
Terminal and from non-food grade bamboo biomass. The Company is also laying a 130
nearby villages in km pipeline to Bangladesh for export of its products. NRL is a partner with
collaboration with 20% stake in Indradhanush Gas Grid Limited (IGGL) which is executing
VK NRL Hospital the Natural Gas Pipeline that would connect all the eight North-eastern
to raise awareness states to the National Gas Grid, thereby ushering the states in a gas-based
