SALT DRIVES RESULTS
Quality improvement is essential at every level of the health system.
CHVs are the health sytem close to the community. CHVs can drive improvement!
SALT results demonstrate that CHV’s, when empowered with problem solving skills,
can develop their own plan of action, use their own resources, and drive positive
change across a range of the social determinants of health.
We have seen CHV’s care for their environment by removing environmental hazards,
improve hand washing with kids teaching their parents what they have learned from
CHVs in school outreaches. We saw CHVs improve nutrition through education and
helping people start their own kitchen gardens. Some even produced more and they
sold the excess vegetables grown to generate additional income.
