The Big 49 — Déjà vu … All Over Again

Like the great Yogi Berra (from whom I’ve stolen in part the title), once
again Carol and I are celebrating a pretty monumental anniversary — 49
years. Some years have flown by while other years (like 2020 – the year of
COVID) have been a bit more like rowing in a wave pool.
In retrospect between the specter of COVID itself and quarantining the

the way we’ve lived. Somedays I’m definitely a one-percenter and Carol’s
putting in 99 percent; while tomorrow she might be in the midst of a good
book she WILL NOT put down and it’s up to me to handle things 100 per-

And then there’s Gabby, our wonderful golden doodle, who at 14 ½ years, remains our touchstone. Visibly frailer and

But back to our anniversary. Although the renovation on our damaged kitchen has yet to start, there
