Fine Tuning Your Footprint Searches
If you are looking for blogs or forums that are related to your niche, just add:
+KEYWORD to the end of the search. If those results are not accurate enough, add this to the end of
the search phrase instead: inurl:KEYWORD. Basically, it tells Google to search for pages that have
that specific keyword in the URL.
Social Networking
Social networking websites have really taken off in the past few years, making it a great venue for
promoting your business. The primary use of social networking sites in marketing is to gain new
users, but you can use certain networking sites to boost your search engine rankings as well. They
key is finding sites that do not place the "nofollow" attribute to outgoing links. You can do this
easily using the Firefox add on I mentioned at the beginning of this chapter. As with any links you
build, be sure to use your keywords in your anchor text. Many of these sites allow you to have your
own blog, rather than just place links in blog post... write a good quality article (Tip: use one you
made in the article marketing section) related to your niche, and embed keworded links throughout
the article. Links in the middle of related content are worth more than links surrounded by other
links. Unfortunately, searching Google for “dofollow social networking sites” will just lead you to
bookmarking sites (covered in the next section). If you are currently a member of a social
networking site, look around at the outgoing links that people have placed... if they don't have a
nofollow tag on them, then get your links up there! Make sure you read the section about Only Wire
to learn how to post to 36 social bookmarking and networking websites at once!
