There are a couple multi-ping services that can automatically ping many sites, saving you lots of
time. My favorite two are:
http://feedshark.brainbliss.com/
http://pingomatic.com/?oldpinger
Keep in mind, these sites submit to many of the same sites, so do not run both of them at the same
time, or make sure you uncheck the duplicates when you run the second service.
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication, and it's a group of formats used to distribute content in a
standardized format. When you submit an RSS feed, not only will it show up on RSS directories, but
other sites may add the RSS feed to their own site giving you more free backlinks. I use free
software called RSS Submit to submit my RSS feeds automatically to the top RSS sites. If you have
multiple sites with RSS feeds, you can submit them each individually, then you can “mix” them
together and submit them again! To do this, go to: RSSMix and enter the URLs for the different RSS
feeds and hit “Create!” This will merge the different feeds into 1, which you can then submit using
the RSS Submit program.
Many networking, bookmarking and web 2.0 sites offer an RSS feed. Grab the feeds from all of your
sites, mix them together with RSS Mix and submit them as well to boost their value even more!
It's a good idea to monitor your progress as you are building backlinks, you may also want to “spy”
on your competition and see what kind of backlinks they have. A simple way to do this is with the
Yahoo Site Explorer . Type in link:http://www.domainname.com , changing the URL to whatever site
you want to check. This will show you all the backlinks that Yahoo has indexed thus far. If you are
spying on your competitors, you can contact the sites that link to them and try to get a link to your
site on there as well. This will help you move past the competition on the search engine results
pages.
