9. The Heber Springs Community Center offers a state of the art aquatics
center, basketball and racquetball courts, weight room, fitness center, and

10. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers William Carl Garner Visitor Center
introduces visitors to the history of Greers Ferry Dam and the Little Red River.
The Mossy Bluff and Buckeye Trails, and the Mossy Bluff Disc Golf Course are
located just behind the Visitor’s Center.
11. Construction of Greers Ferry Dam began in March 1959 and was
completed in December 1962. After completion, the lake was dedicated on
October 3, 1963 by President John F. Kennedy.
12. The JFK Overlook provides visitors with a spectacular view of Greers
Ferry Lake and Dam, and Little Red River.
13. Collins Creek, with an hourly flow of forty thousand gallons of 50 degree
water from Greers Ferry Lake, provides a natural hatchery for brook and
rainbow trout. It also hosts a natural waterfall and trails to explore.
14. Take a free tour of the Greers Ferry National Fish Hatchery, one of the
most modern fish hatcheries in the United States operated by the U.S. Fish &
Wildlife Service.
15. The Little Red River is one of Arkansas’ most popular fishing destinations.
The tail water extends 32 miles, stocked with rainbow trout, and is home to
the record catch 40 pound, four once brown trout.
