20 Cleburne County
“Where the Mountains Meet the Lake and River”
Cleburne County, established in 1883, is the youngest of the 75 counties in
the State of Arkansas. Cleburne County has a scenic landscape of
mountains, Greers Ferry Lake, the Little Red River, and rolling terrain.
The Cleburne County Courthouse, located on the square in the heart of
Heber Springs, is on the National Register of Historic Places. The
architecturally significant, two-story brick structure is of Jeffersonian
Revival Style. The Courthouse serves as a center for governmental offices
in the community.
The Mary I. Wold Cleburne County Library offers a wide array of modern
library services with special focus on children’s programming, an extensive
e-library, complimentary access to computers and other technology. The
Library is located on West Main Street in Heber Springs.
The Cleburne County Historical Society Office, Research Library, and
Museum located in the historic Post Office Building on East Main Street in
Heber Springs, offer historical displays and artifacts as well as an extensive
research library.
