Tenby Harbour on an overcast day, compliments of John Good and in connection with his poem below

                                                                 Overcast

                                                                      By John Good

Outside my everyday window it’s overcast. Tu fas fy ffenestr feunyddiol mae’n cymylu

Not at all sad, but strange Welsh comfort for a boyo Dim trist ond cysur Cymreig od am foyo

Brought up under a cloud of always-about-to rain, Wedi’i fagu dan gwmwl yn wasted ar fwrw

That never ever dampened a damp day game. Na wlychodd erioed chwarae ddydd gwlyb.

What game is that you say? Hey, fair play of course! Pa chwarae yw hwnnw ? Hei, chwarae teg wrth gwrs!

Hoping for a deal off the top of the deck, Gobeithio am raniad o ben y pac,
Occasional ace, blackjack even joker, Ambell âs, blacjac hyd yn oed jocer,

To take every chance of breaking the bank. I fentro am bob siawns o dorri’r banc.

Well to tell the truth? Truth is ruthless. Wel, a dweud y gwir? Y gwir yw didostur,

Existence isn’t easy. Just need Nid hawdd yw bod. Dim ond angen

Daily bread, warm bed, roof overhead Bara beunyddiol, gwely twym, nen uwchben

And my everyday window on overcast. A fy ffenestr feunyddiol ar gymylu.

I’ve said it before that Wales is the Mawsynram of Europe and Mawsynram in India gets over 300 inches of rain a year. Wellies—rubber rain
boots—are essential equipment for the autumn, winter, spring and even summer in Wales! Strangely enough, having spent childhood expecting
rain, drying off after rain or being caught away from home in a downpour, strangely enough I love a rainy day. Even after having thoroughly dried
out in California then Arizona, I sometimes get something like restless if it doesn’t rain for a week or more. I guess puddles are in the blood now.
