The Thesis Link

A thesis link is a word or phrase that links the topic sentence directly

to the central idea of the essay. It is not always enough for the topic
sentence to state a thesis point. Linking the topic sentence to the

general subject of the essay or to your attitude about that subject

reminds your reader that the paragraph is part of a larger whole. At

the same time, a thesis link aids coherence by relating the specific

point to the thesis. Notice in the following examples that each topic
sentence contains a word or phrase that links the paragraph to the

thesis.
