Look at the photograph of the couple with the “Just Married”
sign attached to their car. Visualize the images and
experiences that help you define what marriage is. Then think
about how you would define marriage. Do you believe that your
definition is different from the couple’s definition?
Plan
Before you write a definition of marriage, plan your work.
Consider other definitions. How would the state define
marriage? How would the church define marriage? How do
those definitions differ from one another and from your
personal definition?
