                                  background or summarize the opposing

                                  argument?

                             2. Does the thesis clearly take a side on an issue?
                             3. Does the topic sentence of each body paragraph

remind the reader of the central argument as well

                                  as present a supporting point?

                             4. Are the details in each body paragraph facts that

                                  support the writer’s opinion?
                             5. Are the writer’s arguments sound and

                                  reasonable?

                             6. Does the conclusion bring the reader back to a

thesis-level overall view of the subject and

                                  reinforce the writer’s argument?
