A subject is what the sentence is about. It is
usually a noun or a pronoun. It is probably not the
only noun or pronoun in the sentence, but it is the
only one that enjoys such a direct grammatical
connection to its verb. If you ask,
“Who or what __________?” putting the
verb in the blank, the answer to your question is
always the subject of the sentence.
