Misplaced Modifiers

Underline and correct the two misplaced or dangling modifiers in each

sentence group.

1. My mother did the best she could for my brothers and me. As a
single mother with three children, few luxuries were available.

By working long hours for little pay, the basic needs of life were

met.

2. Sharon saw a polar bear visiting the zoo on Sunday. Sitting on

a block of ice, she noticed that although his fur was white, his

nose and paw pads were coal black.

3. Shakira almost had to wait three hours to see the doctor.
Waiting for hours with no magazines to read, the doctor must

not have cared how the patients felt.
