Voice

Each of the following sentences is in passive voice. Rewrite each

sentence in active voice.

1. The leftover birthday cake was eaten by Kimberly yesterday
morning.

2. The wedding was attended by one hundred people.

3. At the scene of the crime, an address book containing names
of suspected drug dealers was found by police.

4. In English class today, our graded essays were returned.

5. The clock was sent to us by Aunt Diane and Uncle Louis.

Switching from Active Voice to Passive

Voice

To switch from active voice to passive voice, reverse the position of

the actor (the subject of the verb) and the recipient of the action (the
object of the verb).
