The following paragraph has little sentence variety. Edit it to vary
sentence length and structure.
The hallway was crowded. I had just ten minutes between classes. I
needed to feed my soft drink addiction. I entered the little room off
the main hallway. Brightly lit vending machines stood in a row. They
invited onlookers to pop in a bill, a charge card, or several coins.
Students crowded around the machines. I heard a muffled curse from
the front of the crowd. Someone began to shake one of the machines. I
heard someone else call, “Look out!” The large machine began to tip
forward. People screamed and scattered out of the way. The heavy
machine landed against the opposite wall with a crash. Everyone
suddenly seemed in a hurry to get to class. I left, too. I headed for
the stairs. I never did get my soft drink.
