Objectives 1.7 DIVIDING WHOLE NUMBERS
Divide Whole Numbers.
Perform Long Division. Suppose three people pooled their money and bought a raffle ticket at a local
fund-raiser. Their ticket was the winner and they won a $75 cash prize. They then

Objective Dividing Whole Numbers
The process of separating a quantity into equal parts is called division. The division
above can be symbolized by several notations.

subtraction is the reverse of addition, division is the reverse of multiplication. This
means that division can be checked by multiplication.

divisors if necessary.
