Having qualified 2nd behind series leader Malcolm Stewart, the night looked advantageous for
the championship contender right from the beginning. Primed for gate-pick number one in Heat one, Martin was on line for victory until the first turn gobbled up his blue #6, forcing him to battle from behind just like the Atlanta, Toronto and Detroit rounds. But, like his West coast equivalent, Cooper Webb, Martin meticulously worked his way his way up through the field to finish 7th by the end of the short six lap heat race. Once he earned his spot in the main event, Martin went back and must have had a sip of nes-Quick in-between races because the Star Racing Yamaha burst off to a holeshot, a rare occurrence this season for J-Mart. Needing to still push for a podium spot in the standings—if not the overall win—Martin was sailing in Missouri as he led the event wire to wire. He actually might have lost out on some TV-time due to the dominant performance
as he was never really seen after the first few turns. In the following fifteen laps, the speed of Martin’s performance gapped out
the field by nearly nine-seconds.
