Aaron Plessinger jumped to the lead many times in the early morning practices of St. Louis. The dirt in the Edward Jones Dome favored the Yamaha rider, as it was very tacky and rutty, similar to last week. He was riding with a newfound confidence and was ready to back up his
win from the weekend before. He easily qualified inside the top 5 and set his focus on the Heat. When the Heat began, he did not get the start he wanted and came around the first corner in 8th position. By the end of lap two he had made short work of the other riders and was sitting in 2nd place. With two laps to go, he had closed on the leader and was wheel tapping his way into contention for the lead when he had a small tip over in a corner. He got back up and was able to salvage 2nd place. He would go on to the Main with the confidence to win. When the 250 Main began, chaos took over and it seemed as if everyone else was along for the ride. Plessinger avoided most of the chaos and was running mid pack. The craziness took its course again as many riders tangled and Plessinger avoided the carnage again and was able to cross the line on the first
lap in the 3rd position. He worked hard and was able to make the move on McElrath for 2nd place around the halfway point. Plessinger could not close the gap on his teammate for the lead and settled for a strong 2nd place finish in St. Louis. Aaron now sits in 2nd place in the standings just one point behind the leader, Malcolm Stewart.
