By lap 4, he had set his pace for the remainder of the race and carry on to earn 2nd place in his heat. This meant he was going straight through to the main event. Like his heat, Canard didn’t have the greatest start; finishing the first lap in 15th place meant Trey would have some work to do if he’d like to maintain his 9th overall. Doing work is exactly what he did! By moving up at least 1 position every lap, Canard would see himself in the top 10 position before the midpoint of the race. Now, with lappers starting to appear, Trey had to be more cautious about the decisions he made. He saw lappers just as any other rider and blew right passed them, soon enough he found himself in the top 5 position. A fifth place finish is just what Trey Canard needed to secure his 9th place overall.
